I wish this book never ended. Very peaceful and enjoyable read that made me feel I was right there in St. Barts. When you live in a cold climate during winter this book is a great escape.
Having enjoyed visits to this magical island of St. Bart’s for the last 30 years, I think David Coggins captured it brilliantly. This book is delightful, whether one has experienced St. Bart’s or would like to, even if only vicariously.

Blue is a beautiful book by an important artist - and I use the word "artist" to speak to his skills both as a visual artist and a writer. The second book in what I hope becomes a series of illustrated travel memoirs - the first is Paris in Winter, equally stunning - Blue is a visual feast of colorful imagery, all painted by the writer during his family's annual sojourns to St. Barts over the course of several years. It's a beautiful book about family, belonging, friendship, and the pursuit of an artful life. Common observations become art and inspiration to anyone looking to be transported by lovely story telling and water color renderings of the good life in St. Barts. It has pride of place on my nightstand, and I refer to it often anytime I need a happy thought or a nudge to remember my own artful dreams. Pick this up and keep an eye out for any other books by this talented writer - and check out Paris in Winter, too. David's books are the next best thing to being there, and you may even be inspired topic up your own pen and paintbrush. Wherever you're going next, David, I hope you pack your watercolors.
This book is a joy to hold as well as read. So much thought went into the design, the size, the beautiful paper. And mission accomplished! Reading it brought back so many wonderful memories of the years we spent going to St. Kitts in the winter. The warm impressionist, Caribbean-y watercolors are wonderful. This is a perfect winter read!
I've never read a book like this before. It's so unique and fascinating with the drawings and stories interwoven in such an interesting and compelling way. It makes me want to go to St. Barts and experience the remarkable place myself. Plus it's a joy to get to know the family and share their experiences on the paradise island. I highly recommend Blue: A St. Barts Memoir!
St. Barts is an amazing place. The smells the sounds, the visuals all come to life in this book. If you’ve ever been to Saint Barts this book will take you back and if you haven’t been yet it will take you there. The art in the book is almost as good as the words and the words are great.
