This book is amazing, and so is Anna. This is a book about how a smart, hard-working, independent, college-age woman, who dreams of being a psych major, is kidnapped in broad daylight on a busy street and trafficked for sex slavery. Anna takes us through the horror of the first abuses against her, all the way through 9 months of experiences that are at the limit of what a human being can stand. Throughout it all, she somehow maintains her sense of self. Now she’s escaped, she’s gotten her abusers locked up, and she’s focused on changing laws to help other victims of sexual slavery. And she’s getting her own life back and healing. Everyone who cares about ending sexual slavery should read this book. If this trauma could happen to Anna, who is so brave and smart, then it really could happen to anyone.
Anna acting like a pristine and better then tbd other poor girls there acting was being dumb and made the other girls suffer to do more cuz she acted so stuck up like she does now and didn't CARE if she put her mother in danger or NOT either and I KNOW about being in that spot but I didn't act prideful like she did and she THINKS she is working with higher ups in England lol lol LOL lol , THEY are part of ALL of this shit! Big TIME! Now she REALLY is acting snobby, what about LITTLE kids that get taken and raped they have it WAY WORSE !!!!
The ghostwriter Jason Johnson did an excellent job with this, because the writing preserves the creative charm with which people often express themselves when their native tongue is other than English. As for the events portrayed in the book, the question I cannot get out of my head is why Anna "let" herself be trapped in that situation, from the very first march through a crowded airport teeming with security, to countless other times when she could have escaped. It seems to be a question she cannot answer herself.
