I loved In the Line of Ire, Lexi Graves #13, as I have loved every book that that Camilla Chafer has written. I love that Lexi is maturing realistically, but I also enjoy when she still gets into hilarious messes that balance the serious situations she often faces in her work. Her sparkle, wit, zaniness, and her very special family all contribute the draws that pulls me into her world every time.It is seldom that Lexi’s expertise outshines Solomon’s, but when it comes to accessories, she is the queen. A post honeymoon gift sends Lexi to the mall, but it sure isn’t for fun. Someone sold her amazing new husband and not so new boss a knockoff designer handbag, and Serena buys a purse to celebrate a success only to discover it has been switched for a fake, too. The mall manager hires the Solomon Detective agency to get to the bottom of the problem before words spreads. When they look for cheap bags that have been switch for the expensive originals, they find that it is not only handbags that have been knocked off.The FBI is drawn into the case and our old, and really hot, friend Maddox ends up working with Lexi. I had to laugh at his behind the scenes flirting that left her totally flummoxed, which was of course, his intention. On a more serious note, the newly-wed detective is still having trouble dealing with the trauma from the shooting, but in true Lexi fashion, she tries to play it off and refuses to give in. Book thirteen is sure not bad luck for author Camilla Chafer, this novel is as good as any in the series.I received an ARC of the novel from the author and my ebook purchase landed on my ereader last night!

I love all of Camilla Chafer's books, but the Lexi Graves series are my favorite. You feel like you know all of Lexi's friends and relatives. They are always funny and interesting. This time Lexi has 3 mysteries to solve, a serious murder, a creepy stalker, and a cute video taken of her in an embarrassing situation. (Loved the solution to that one especially.) I can't wait for the next one!

As usual, this series is fantastic. Lexi and Solomon solve interesting mysteries and the family dinners are hysterical. Love all the characters! Definitely worth reading!

Lexi is back and I always look forward to what she is going to get into next. This time, it’s in her wheelhouse with fake designer bags. She goes undercover to catch the ring and deals with her crazy family along the way. It was fabulous!

In the Line of Ire, we get Lexi and Solomon working to solve 2 cases....loved it! Love everything about Lexi Graves Mysteries, this series is a series you hope will continue forever. Can't wait to see what Lexi get into next.

I love this series, the people are like family, Sam is so funny, Lexie's mom is a hoot. I can't wait for the next book. The mystery it's self is always surprising. Thanks Camilla

About the Author

The study of nutrition has been a passion for Dr. Christine Farlow since 1975. Before she ever earned the title of doctor, people were coming to her unsolicited and asking for nutritional advice. It just seemed natural that the next step would be to become a doctor and make it her business to counsel patients in nutrition. Dr. Farlow is a Doctor of Chiropractic with a specialty in Nutrition. She has been counseling patients in Nutrition and teaching Nutrition classes since 1984. Her books evolved out of her teaching and her nutritional counseling. These were the tools she found that people needed most to get started toward eating healthfully and to make healthy eating a lifetime habit.

This little book packs a little punch - and more importantly, doesn't pull too many regarding Genetically Modified Foods. But I agree with the one and three star reviewers that we need something a bit more up to date; and I would add, something more in-depth. For instance, much has changed since 2007 and there are now plenty of conclusive studies showing the toxins and dangers of eating GM foods, which isn't mentioned in this book. Hopefully, if there is another edition the author will include more specific health dangers directly associated with GMO's. GM corn for instance has been found to have male sterility properties (and fertility rates have indeed suffered dramatically since the introduction of GM foods). The author states it is estimated that about 70% all US commercially grown corn is GM. That was in 2007. That number has grown to nearly 100% in 2012. The author's short list of GM foods also needs to be expanded to include, among others, more information on farmed raised salmon, GE hormone rBGH/rBST injected into cows that are also fed GM grains and hay, and the most recent genetic modification in the midst of winning full Congressional approval is genetically modified salmon that reach monstrous sizes in extremely short growing periods. This is thought to be the precursor to genetically modified farm animals - all intended to increase production and profit at great cost to the health of the consumer.A daunting task by any measure, the author has classified over 1000 commonly used food additives according to safety, whether they may cause allergic reactions, and if they are Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) by the FDA. But contrary to popular belief, the FDA is not our friend. To use the FDA guidelines in determining what is safe and what is toxic is as risky as nourishing yourself according to the RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance). An unfortunate follower of such guidelines will more often than not face unnecessary suffering and untimely death through disease and malnourishment. Another shortcoming of this book is it only shows carcinogenic (cancer) dangers associated with substances based solely on IARC (the International Agency for Research on Cancer). This is a start, but there are many other well-founded and accepted studies showing great danger and toxicity in MANY of the additives for which the IARC has given a free pass. No additional studies or recommendations are included in this book.I purchased 5 of these books to give as gifts to my grown sons. It was probably a waste of money as this really isn't much of a shopping guide as some of the reviews have stated. It's a good start - and the list is impressively extensive - but there is much more information known on the toxic side effects of many of these chemicals that has been largely ignored here. A plus for this book is that it includes the labeling guide for fresh produce. Just about every piece of fruit has a little PLU (product look-up) sticker on it: 4 digits is conventionally grown; 5 digits starting with an 8 is Genetically Modified; and 5 digits starting with a 9 is organic. I once read a little rhyme that helped me remember this: "4 is a bore, 8 I hate, 9 is mine!" The author's warning to pay attention to theses stickers is good advice, as she points out food can get moved around or mis-advertised. (E.G. Signage advertised as organic when in fact the sticker might say otherwise.)I forgot to mention I purchased a copy of this little book for myself that I use for quick reference; but that is all it is - a quick reference and a jumping-off point at a nice price. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find anything better on the market today. While this book can serve as a handy little starting point, for more information (especially if you are suffering from disease, or raising children, or just interested in optimizing your health and preventing disease down the road) I recommend checking out Gary Null's books and videos and subscribing to Dr. Mercola's twice weekly emails. Although I am not a big fan of all the Mercola products or some outside products that he also endorses on his site, his team of researchers are top notch and his extensive library of articles is worth researching. There are many great resources out there for an over-all education on healthy eating. Pick up the "freebies" - those free health publications usually available at your local health food Store. My favorite periodical is "Well Being Journal". it's not free, and it's not a slick, full color, magazine, but it will definitely keep you up to date on the latest and greatest in the healthy-living world.Here's the 'skinny'('what I've learned in 30 years of research')- avoid all prepared foods, along with sugar, excessive use of salt (use Himalayan or Celtic if you can), and eat only freshly prepared, organic meals, and you won't really need this book much. Avoiding foods cooked or baked at high temperatures and drinking only clean spring or well water, or reverse osmosis filtered water that has been fortified with some minerals, is the icing on the cake. If you're really committed you might even consider researching raw foods (full throttle or modified) as a way to go. Find your own path; no one has all the answers that will work for everyone. Educate yourself constantly on the ever-unfolding information available to us and try not to depend on just one book. But where "additives" are concerned, if you want to start somewhere, until something better comes along, I guess here is as good as anywhere.

For starters, when I use this book as a reference, 100% of the "All-natural", 'Organic' foods that claim "NO MSG" did in fact have it! It is my understanding that according to the FDA, if a food product contains 98% of MSG or less, they can claim that it has 'NO MSG'. There are many sources to find out the many forms of it, and this book lists those that I've found. And why it can occur naturally through various processing methods, it is what it is. Absolutely amazing.The guide fits in a back pocket or purse and is an invaluable resource. I would even suggest having one in your kitchen and a second copy in your car (or scooter). I'm sure some other source SOMEWHERE has similar information, but I haven't found a resource that cross references itself in a basic format, with terse language (exactly what you need when shopping).The sad part about this though is that I ONLY purchase 'whole', 'organic', 'healthier' snacks, and ALL the chips and cookies fail her additives test, quite poorly actually. Lesson learned: If I want high-quality goodies without fillers, seems like I'm gonna have to make 'em myself!!!

Although my edition is the original one, I highly recommend this little book. Anyone who takes the responsibility of buying food for him/herself and/or others should have this book as a guide. Had I known about this book earlier, I would have made more responsible choices. In reality, I've switched to organic food and I chosen several alternatives that are much better for me. I refer to this book and share my findings with my friends and family. The book is easy to understand and the author has codes to determine what is generally recognized as safe, and additives with an X signifies that it is unsafe. Makes you wonder who is paying off the FDA. I'm just sayin'.

I keep a copy in my glove box in my car to grab when I go to the grocery store. I think that everyone who eats, needs to know the dangers of food additives--they're in virtually everything we eat! Dump the white stuff and the raped wheat stuff. As a base I use chappati flour as my base. I put coconut flour, oat, then I cook with coconut oil.Don't eat it, don't buy it, don't encourage them. Do it yourself or find a farmer.I would wash my vegetables with baking soda to ensure that Fukushima dropping as washed off your veggies especially if they are from the west coast. This book is just amazing. Well-written in a language that kids can understand and engage with. Incredibly inspiring showing real life stories of women - making it more tangible, relatable and real. I never had this when I was growing up. When I showed my kids the book they were really drawn to it and have started to read it. Every mother should buy this for their daughter!

The book “Everyday Superheros” is a must read for kids of all ages! It introduces you to different women in science and gives a brief and compelling description of what each woman does and why it matters. Kids are introduced to career possibilities far beyond the scope of what they may have been exposed to in school – careers like civil and environmental engineering and astronomy are front and center. The featured women scientists are of all different races, ages and ethnicities so that kids can get an idea of the full range of diversity of women in STEM. Additionally, the authors outline the process of science with a focus on communication, collaboration, problem solving and curiosity as necessary components of good science, which is a welcome relief from the narrative that you must be naturally brilliant to be a scientist.As a mother, a woman, a scientist, and leader for the science advocacy group “500 Women Scientists” I highly recommend this book!

I got my copy from the Kickstarter but I have to tell you, the book is very cool. The book inspires! My 3 daughters ages 9,6,4 love looking at the pictures, reading to each other and simply having a resource in their library all about girls in STEM. I highly recommend the book to parents. I especially wish schools would have this in their library.

The story does an excellent job of describing events in Africa. These include the killings in Rwanda and social disruptions in other Central and East African countries. The author doesn't beat us over the head with the atrocities, but gives us just enough information. She then lets us know how people have gotten on with their lives. Angel, the heroine, has kindness and understanding that allows her to deal with difficult situations in a tactful manner. We see her evolution as a mother and grandmother. Painful subjects come up as relates to HIV/AIDS, infidelity, prostitution, and broken families. For a reader who is encountering these subjects for the first time, it is educational. I took the book to my South African friends, only to discover they had already read it. I highly recommend it.

The title intrigued me. I thought “Isn’t that the place where all those people were killed?” Yes, it is that Kigali, in the aftermath of the genocide and horrors of hate, combined with the ongoing losses from AIDS. These are the tales of love and loss spun round the main character, Angel, whose heart is big enough for the whole compound. As she chooses her decorations for their cakes, she listens to their stories and weaves together a community.

I only bought this book because I've been sponsoring a boy in Rwanda for some years. Most of what I hear about Rwanda relates to the genocide, but I am curious to learn more about what might be happening in that extraordinary part of the world. In describing the fictional lives of people who currently live in Kigali, as motley a crowd as one might expect in any capital city these days, Gaile Parkin, through the voice and perceptions of Angel, presents a tapestry of the socio-cultural issues that I feel plausibly exists there these days.Ascribing excellent cake-making skills to Angel gives Parkin the requisite entree to people of all social strata in her community, and to raise a large number of issues that are problematic in many areas of the world, including the Western part, where I live - all of which invoke not only of Rwanda's horrific recent history but also deal with the matter of inclusion/exclusion that caused the genocide there and continues to fuel suspicion, fear, hostility, and violence all over the world.Parkin touches tellingly on a large number and wide range of troubling and contentious social issues that exist just as much in Western industrialized countries as they do in the Kigali environment that forms the locus of her novel, such as the introduction of Muslim religious views and cultural practices, homosexuality, prostitution, infidelity, female circumcision, AIDS, and much more as just what being part of the human variety entails among her wide circle of friends and acquaintances in a newly formed multi-cultural, urban environment. Beyond that, Parkin invokes an African perspective on historical events that underlie what probably endures as at least antipathy toward the foreigners ("Wazunga"), who overran and broke up the African continent with no consideration for the inhabitants, as well as nationalistic and feminist sensibilities.Each issue, whether having micro- or macro-societal implications, is deftly handled by the protagonist, Angel, in a no-nonsense and non-dogmatic way. The novel's vision - the possibility of a harmonious future that underlies every one of Angel's actions and considerations - is the leitmotif that runs through all of the cakes that she bakes for various celebrations: the basket-weave icing and unity elements that encompass so many of them. It is above all Angel's openness to people of all kinds, many of whom are very different from herself and in spite of her uncertaintainty at times. Her compassion and respect for the dignity of individuas as well as her commitment to furthering societal harmony carry the day every time.I think probably every community on Earth has its own Angel - that genuinely kind and thoughtful somebody who works quietly behind the scenes while louder voices shout to have their views imposed on their countrymen and the world.The funny part about this book is that this is so simple that a child could learn from and appreciate it. It would be a fine book to include in the high-school curriculum.Brava, Parkin! I think Angel (or you) would be excellent somebodies on Rwanda's Unity and Reconciliation Committee. Baking Cakes in Kilgali addresses some very serious issues: Rwandan genocide the AIDS crisis in Africa and the practice of female genital mutilation. The protagonist of the novel is a talented cake baker who becomes a central figure in the lies of many of er neighbors. This is very well written and the issues are dealt with sensitively and compassionately

Having been in many of the places mentioned in this book made it special to me. Angel bakes cakes and spreads wisdom, love, and a bit of matchmaking.

Reveals how the people of Rwanda cope with the tragedy they've undergone and find hope and joy in life. Insightful and uplifting and even funny. Highly recommend.

Manages to examine difficult subjects (i.e. Rwandan genocide, prostitution, poverty, infidelity, orphans) with humor and gentleness. It is actually a fun read that makes you think. Highly recommended. I laughed aloud a few times and then got my studious husband to read it. He laughed too. We have both traveled quite a bit and can tell that the author has significant cross cultural experience.

I enjoyed the book, but the character development was weak. There were so many characters introduced that it was hard to follow. I loved Angel, because as a reader I knew her best.

I took Pharmacology as a Summer course and it kicked my butt. But I loved it. Now I am thinking about it as a career. My instructor skipped the math portion. If you are not skipping the math portion (look at your syllabus). Check out an app on iTunes...it gives you all kinds of short cuts to understanding the medical math. There is also a 5 dollar laminated cheat chart you can buy.

I recommend this study guide it helps with the quizzes in class and it helps you to review and understand the chapter material so much better. The only down side is that the answers are not in the back of the book but the answers are easy to find in the book. I definitely recommend purchasing this study guide book!

The textbook itself was the same as the description, and full of very useful information. The condition wasn't has decribed, however, and had some highlights, marks, ect. With that being the only exception this book was very helpful and good.

Book is very simplified, the only problem is that some of the information for the questions at the end of each chapter quiz is not located within the book and additional research must be done to get answers.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Odelia, the reporter for the small town paper. Along with her cats Max and Dooley they strive to solve the murder of a famous singer. In the mean time they are trying to prove that Chase, the hunky cop who has moved to town, was set up as a bad cop, because he had destructive information on the Commissioner. Another cantputdownable must read.

So cat relations seem very similar to human relations. Harriet is Dooley's lost love. And Brutus' lovey dovey. The attitudes between the cats is very humanistic. I can't wait to see how things develop in the people world between Odelia and Chase. I'm also curious to see where things land between the cats. I love that Odelia, her mom and grandmother can talk to the cats. For now, on to the next book in the series.

Odelia Poole, Max the cat's human that talks to cat's has an interview, she is a reporter, with JG George a famous 60's pop stat. She along with Max find him dead in his pool. Get ready to go into conversations with cat's helping Odelia solve the murder. A good change from your usual mystery!

Hard to imagine cats talking but among other they communicate some how and as a cat owner I do communicate with my girls just not verbally. Odelia the reporter and her cats make for a cute read.

Absolutely enjoyed this book. The cats are hilarious. They join forces to help their owners catch the murderer. Looking forward to more from this author. This is the second, be sure to grab the first in this series also.

I enjoyed this book a lot. Bringing in a couple of loving cats to the mix was a little strange but I finally got used to them. Now I want to see if all will be in the next story including Clarisse. I am hoping that she will find something better for herself.

If you are a stickler for good grammar, proper punctuation, correct vocabulary, and careful proofreading, this series is not for you, unless you can temporarily set your standards aside. If you can, then this series is an enjoyable lighthearted romp. The cat characters far outshine the humans.

The second book in a series. I hope this series is a long-lasting one! I'm eagerly awaiting the third book in the series. Run, don't walk to get the first two books, if you haven't. Enjoy the laughs the cats create.
