Big-Boy-Beds all around!

Well, the time has finally come where even our "little boys" have graduated beyond sleeping in Pack'N'Plays every night. Friday we picked up the first bed (thanks Alfred and Kate for the loaner!) and Jaden was allowed the "privilege" of sleeping in the P'N'P while his brother enjoyed their first night in big beds (Andrew chose Jaden's twin while Caleb opted for the toddler bed). Saturday night we completed the graduation ceremony with a Freecycle acquisition and they're all now doing wonderfully in their big beds.

Surprisingly enough, Caleb and Andrew have given us very little resistance to staying in bed at night... I'm sure those times will come though. I remember a few nights around the time when Jaden was making this transition where we had to literally tie his door shut to keep him in his room until he fell asleep. I only remember two or three times when he actually fall asleep directly behind the door, making it somewhat difficult to go in later and put him back in bed. Are we the only meanies or have you other parents had to resort to similarly drastic measures?

Yea for the beds! Those are great toddler beds!

We are meanies as well - we still have a gate on Andrew's door and at first he had that doorknob thingy on the inside. It prevented the doorknob from turning and thereby allowing him to get it open. But now he sleeps with his door open b/c he is afraid with it shut. I'm glad your transition has been easy!

Hey Tracy! NO, you are not the only ones:). We also tied the boys' door closed, caues they'd get up at least 12 times...or more.
Just WOULD NOT stay in the bed, regardless of the consequences! Then we'd just untie the door before we went to bed. Tad still gets up a few times before going to sleep-he's 3, can you believe it? Actually, almost 4. ahhhh!
anyway, drastic measures are occasionally necessary. Miss you guys and seeing all your little boys. What a crowd we would make if we all got together!

We are lucky and have not had problems. Katherine wakes up and calls for us. Usually that is followed by a cuddle session in her bed. The only time she has gotten out of bed on her own is when we were a little too sleepy and took our time getting to her. It was at 7:30am though so not a big deal.

Now, if she were to get up in teh middle of the night or if she gets up to wake up Squeak, you bet we will tie the door or put childproof knobs on the door.
